The Gathering Ground Restaurant: Reviews & Ratings

11 ladies and myself decided to go to the Gathering Ground to have a Valentine Day breakfast together. We had made reservations and were warmly greeted at the entrance and our table was set very nicely. Our waitress was alone but she got right on getting our orders to the kitchen. We had talking time and passed around various gifts and enjoyed being together. Our meals arrived and everyone really enjoyed their food. It was served hot and with great service from the waitress. It is a nice local restaurant in a small plaza and has a good crowd for the breakfast meal.

Food was pretty good. Bacon egg and cheese was giant and delicious. Home fries were weird and seemed under cooked. Service was slow, with only two tables in the whole resturant and two servers, seemed weird to get bad service. I'm a server so I understand things happen but if there was two of us at 11am on a weekday with only two other tables I would give great service. The kitchen manager (so he seemed) noticed customers had to come up to the counter to get things or order more. Wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend other then to order ahead and pick up.

First time here. Food was average and what i would expect from a dinner but staff was super friendly and tentative. they checked on me often for coffee, if everything was okay, made recommendations when i was ordering and food came quickly. French toast wasn’t flat or soggy which i sometimes get from other dinners so i enjoyed it a lot! I usually dont like dinner coffee but i was able to drink theirs black. Will definitely be back.

The food was really good, better than skooters, actually. Even the prices were better then skooters. The omelet was actually fluffy and big with home fries. Even the simple toast tasted good, too, as well. The interior of the place is nice and clean, I enjoyed the atmosphere inside. Overall, the experience was good. My waiter was nice. Service was a little weird it was really slow at first, but then really fast at the end. I didn't even wait that long for food, it came out super quick. I remember coming here many years ago and had a positive experience too as well.

This was highly rated but a disappointment. The waffles and pancakes were undercooked and tasted like too much baking soda was added. The eggs Benedict hollandaise sauce broke. The hash was good. Service was friendly which brought the rating from a 2-star to a 3-star.

I went here for breakfast this past week and was pleasantly surprised, I usually do not find many places I would like to go back to a second time but Dom’s is definitely one of them. The entire staff was so friendly and everyone was smiling , even some if the other patrons greeted me with a Big smile and a good morning. The atmosphere was very comfortable and The food absolutely DELICIOUS!!!

Well, it was a good experience. Great wait staff and great food. The owner happened to be seated at the front counter, noticing that I had ordered sausage gravy & biscuits. And asked if I had ordered the home made hash, which I had not. He went out and brought a sample of their hash and it was very good. The sausage gravy was very worthwhile and I would have it again. We were only in the area for 2 days and live about 7 hours away. So to say I would go back would take a 7 hour drive but the sausage gravy & biscuits with the hash would be thought worthy. Until next time Gathering Ground!

As I stepped inside The Gathering Ground, I was immediately greeted by the warm ambiance that sets the tone for a relaxed dining experience. This unpretentious yet inviting restaurant is perfect for gathering friends and family, much like Pati Lewis did with her group of 11 ladies for a Valentine’s Day breakfast. Her review encapsulated the essence of camaraderie that The Gathering Ground fosters. With beautifully set tables and attentive service, it’s clear that they value each customer’s experience.

The menu boasts familiar breakfast classics that elevate comfort food to a new level. Dishes like the colossal bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich have received praise for their flavor, while the *home fries* have garnered mixed reviews, indicating areas for improvement. Dylan Teixeira highlighted the fluffy omelet paired with perfectly cooked home fries that surpassed expectations, even competing positively against local favorites. This showcases the potential for delectable dishes that can keep patrons coming back.

However, not every review paints a flawless picture. Rene Bizeau mentioned inconsistencies in service, with slow response times despite a quiet dining environment. Yet, the kitchen's capabilities seem to shine through in delivering comforting meals swiftly once the ball was rolling. This juxtaposition in experiences signals opportunities for improvement in service efficiency, but the overall charm of the restaurant cannot be dismissed.

Another notable aspect is the culinary attention to detail, as mentioned by SJ Zonio. His experience with the French toast was delightful, crafted to avoid the common pitfalls of sogginess, and his enjoyment of the coffee reflects the little things that make a dining experience memorable. Although some dishes like the waffles and pancakes faced criticism for being undercooked, the friendly service managed to compensate for these shortcomings, as observed by Sheryl Guillory.

In summary, The Gathering Ground Restaurant is a sweet spot for breakfast lovers who appreciate a homey environment and friendly faces. With a little fine-tuning on certain dishes and service speed, this restaurant could easily elevate itself into a must-visit spot in Windsor Locks. If you’re in the area and looking for a place to enjoy a meal with friends or family, consider making The Gathering Ground a part of your culinary journey!
